A Unique Invite
On June 30, 2025, I received a message that sparked instant curiosity. Ms. Maria Carolina “Carol” Dominguez, President and CEO of John Clements Consultants, Inc., invited me to a U.S. Senior Open Watch Party on July 5 at the Manila Golf & Country Club.
What made it even more exciting? The event featured exclusive commentary from Dan Sais, former PGA professional, offering firsthand insights on some of the sport’s legendary senior players.
Building Connections Over Golf
I arrived with an open mind—ready to experience my first watch party, learn about the tournament, and maybe even pick up a few golf tips. The EastWest Room buzzed with welcoming energy. Carol greeted us warmly alongside guests like Cesar Purisima, Corrie, Dan Lachica, Carlo Lao, and Teri.
The food was elegant yet comforting—smoked salmon, fine cheeses, wine flowing gently. Conversations sparked effortlessly, making it clear: this was executive networking done differently.
Behind the Scenes at The Broadmoor
Carol shared highlights from her trip to the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, where she watched the 45th U.S. Senior Open. Her stories, photos, and videos gave us front-row seats to the action—especially from her unforgettable vantage at the spa overlooking the 18th hole.
Then came a briefing by Tully Moss of JCLI, who painted a vivid picture of The Broadmoor Golf Club, one of the world’s top golf venues. Nestled in mountain terrain, it challenges even seasoned pros with deceptive slopes and elevated play.
Golf Insights That Transcend Skill
We watched key tournament highlights:
- Mark Hensby led with -4
- Bjørn and Gallacher at -2
- Jiménez and Flesch at -1
Dan Sais broke down the game’s technical layers—from elevation shifts affecting ball flight to the greens’ subtle, mountain-influenced slopes. “Always read away from the mountain,” he said. Simple, smart, memorable.
We learned that U.S. Senior Open eligibility starts at 50, while in the Philippines, it begins at 55. And yes—even seasoned pros miss easy putts. A humbling and reassuring fact.
A Celebration of Strategy and Camaraderie
Pádraig Harrington eventually claimed the win. And while Hensby dropped to fourth, the real triumph—at least for me—was the atmosphere of shared discovery.
Carol’s event brought together professionals from diverse backgrounds in an evening that celebrated sport, connection, and curiosity.
It reminded me that golf isn’t just played on the course—it’s lived through moments like this.
