  • Makati Business Club Annual General Membership Meeting: A Year of Strategic Focus and Inclusive Engagement

The Makati Business Club (MBC) held its Annual General Membership Meeting on June 30, 2025, at the Ayala Museum. The association concluded the year with 449 active members—a testament to its growing relevance across diverse sectors. Of these, 270 members participated either in person or via proxy, ensuring a representative and engaged voice in policy dialogues, program development, and organizational governance.

Year in Review

Throughout the year, MBC convened 100 meetings, underscoring its strong operational cadence and steadfast commitment to inclusive collaboration. The organization continued to demonstrate robust membership engagement, strategic growth, and alignment with national priorities—particularly in the areas of agriculture, governance, and emerging technologies.

Strategic Focus for 2024

The year 2024 marked a pivotal shift as MBC sharpened its strategic focus on the intersection of artificial intelligence, geopolitics, and government engagement. Through a series of forums, publications, and partnerships, the Club examined the role of AI in transforming agricultural systems—such as smart farming, resource optimization, and food security. Geopolitical dynamics and climate change were likewise analyzed through the lens of national resilience, enabling MBC to support policy institutions as a trusted knowledge and advisory partner.

Strengthened Collaboration

Strengthened collaboration with government agencies further positioned the organization as a valued contributor to long-term strategy formation in multiple sectors. Agriculture remained a core thrust of MBC’s mission. Its continued advocacy for agri-innovation empowered rural communities and local governments to adopt climate-smart, data-driven farming models.

Financial Overview

On the financial front, MBC maintained prudent operations and strategic reinvestment. Trustee Riza Mantaring reported that revenue for the year reached ₱22.4 million, compared to ₱35 million in 2023—a decline attributed to the conclusion of one-off grants and special projects. Operating expenditures (OPEX) were kept at ₱21.9 million, down from ₱22.7 million the previous year, reflecting enhanced cost-efficiency measures. The fund balance remained strong, supporting multi-year programs and future partnerships.

Looking Ahead

With sound governance, an active and engaged membership, and a clear set of priorities, MBC enters the new fiscal year poised to deepen its impact. Looking ahead, the Club aims to:

  • Expand AI-driven research initiatives in key agricultural regions,
  • Strengthen regional geopolitical literacy among stakeholders,
  • Cement ties with government and international institutions, and
  • Broaden its revenue base through innovation grants and industry collaborations.

As the nation stands at the crossroads of digital transformation and food security challenges, the Makati Business Club reaffirms its role as a steward of knowledge, action, and inclusive progress.
