Empowering Leaders Through Coaching Programs

On July 18, 2025, the IBPAP Women in Action (WIA) network hosted an Elevate program session designed to strengthen the leadership capabilities of its current cohort of women professionals. This online workshop, facilitated by an experienced leadership coach, focused on building self-awareness, amplifying strengths, and converting feedback into meaningful action.

Defining Extraordinary Leadership

To kick off the session, participants explored foundational leadership concepts—beginning with the difference between being good and being extraordinary. Rather than striving for perfection, the coach urged attendees to lean into their most impactful strengths. The group also examined how perception shapes leadership effectiveness. As the discussion evolved, participants realized that intention alone doesn’t define leadership; how others experience a leader’s actions is equally critical.

Preparing for 360-Degree Feedback

Next, the session shifted toward preparing participants to interpret and act on 360-degree feedback. Although assessment results had not yet been released, the facilitator provided actionable strategies for approaching insights constructively. She explained how strengths can fuel growth and how weaknesses are identified using the Zenger Folkman methodology. Thanks to this proactive guidance, participants felt more confident about navigating their upcoming feedback.

Addressing Fatal Flaws with Purpose

The workshop then delved into the concept of “fatal flaws”—behaviors or gaps that, if ignored, can severely hinder leadership effectiveness. Tully, the facilitator, shared compelling anecdotes, including one about an anonymous individual whose impressive skills were overshadowed by a critical flaw. This segment underscored the importance of focusing development efforts where they will have the greatest impact.

Fostering Meaningful Dialogue

Throughout the session, participants remained actively engaged. They exchanged ideas about what makes a leader effective—or ineffective—and posed thoughtful questions about interpreting feedback reports. Their curiosity extended to analyzing graphs and applying results to guide their growth. This dynamic exchange cultivated a collaborative and supportive learning environment.

Moving Forward with Confidence

By session’s end, attendees understood how to use assessment data for focused growth. They left with strategies to apply feedback, boost leadership presence, and build on their unique strengths.
