Ilaw ng tahanan. The better half. The divine feminine. These phrases reflect how society has long described women—valued, respected, yet still often underrecognized. During the March Sales and Production Conference, John Clements Consultants Inc. aligned its celebration with International Women’s Month by recognizing achievers and performers while advancing the conversation on women empowerment in the modern workplace.
A Strong Start Rooted in Wellness
We began the day with movement and mindfulness. Participants joined the monthly Fun Run, while others embraced a calm morning yoga session. Some found it soothing. Others found it tough. Consequently, everyone walked away energized, mentally clear, and ready for the day.

Afterward, President and CEO Ms. Carol Dominguez delivered a direct and inspiring message on self-care and personal improvement. She emphasized that health must remain a priority, both personally and professionally. Specifically, she shared how consistent wellness habits support longevity and performance. This philosophy lives through company-led initiatives such as:
- Zumba and yoga sessions
- Friendly Fun Runs
- Onsite professional massage services during the conference
These efforts reinforce a culture where well-being is not optional—it is essential.
Performance, Recognition, and Purpose
As the day progressed, Sales and Production reports took center stage. Individual contributors and leaders presented milestones, wins, and lessons learned. However, this session came with a meaningful twist.
Each speaker answered a simple but powerful question: “How will you support or promote women during this month?”
The responses varied but shared a unifying purpose. In contrast to routine business updates, these reflections brought forward lived experiences, commitments, and accountability tied to women empowerment. Participants emphasized:
- Creating safe spaces for open communication
- Actively promoting women in male-dominated environments
- Sharing responsibilities at home and work
- Challenging traditional gender expectations
Men, in particular, spoke openly about advocating for their partners, mothers, sisters, and colleagues. These conversations strengthened collective responsibility and mutual respect.
Learning from Women Who Shaped History
Filipino Icons Who Redefined Possibility
Grace Alcid, Ed.D., Learning & Development Director of John Clements, led an impactful segment highlighting influential Filipino women, past and present. She showcased widely known leaders like Lea Salonga and Maria Ressa, alongside trailblazers such as Dr. Fe Del Mundo and Socorro Ramos.
Furthermore, she traced the origins of National Women’s Month and connected historical progress to today’s realities. While opportunities for women in corporate leadership continue to grow, disparities in political representation and economic participation remain.
According to the Philippine Commission on Women, advocacy efforts continue to address these gaps nationwide.
