Empowering Leadership: A New Mom’s Journey with the Leadership Program

I don’t believe in accidents. When the opportunity to join the John Clements New Managers Program came my way, it felt like perfect timing. Ten months postpartum, a new mom, and recently stepping into the role of Managing Director at Thrive Digital, I knew this program would be the key to helping me grow into the leader I aspired to be.

The Balancing Act of Work and Family

Attending face-to-face sessions while leaving my daughter at home wasn’t easy. But I understood the value of what I was about to embark on. Every session, every lesson learned wasn’t just beneficial to my career but would resonate deeply in my family life as well. I knew the balance I was striving for would require both personal and professional growth.

As a mother and a professional, I’ve always believed that leadership starts from within. By attending these sessions, I gained invaluable insights on managing teams, fostering collaboration, and growing as an empathetic leader — something that I now apply daily in both my role at Thrive Digital and in my role as a mother.

Applying Leadership Learnings in Real-Time

Even before the program ended, I was eager to apply what I had learned. I applied and got accepted as a coach for KadaKareer, a platform helping students and career shifters. This opportunity will allow me to implement coaching and mentorship strategies that I’ve learned throughout the program.

Leading with Empathy and Understanding

The leadership program also guided me in evolving as a manager. One of the biggest challenges I faced was handling productivity within my team. This is where the program truly helped me refine my leadership style. Through the lens of empathy, I was able to navigate the issue with understanding, addressing concerns effectively while ensuring my team stayed motivated and engaged.

Thank You to JCCI and FTW Foundation

I owe a huge thanks to JCCI for supporting the FTW Foundation and providing such an impactful leadership program. This opportunity is especially meaningful to me as a woman leader — being equipped with the skills to lead with competence and confidence. Thank you also to Cara Wilson, our founder at FTW, for connecting us to JCCI. The support I’ve received through this program has inspired me to continue paying it forward, just as Dr. Grace Alcid and Ms. Carol  Dominguezhave done for me.

Inspiring Others and Continuing the Journey

Leadership isn’t a solo journey. The mentors and leaders I’ve met through this program continue to inspire me to evolve as a more effective, empathetic leader. I am more motivated than ever to lead with authenticity, understanding, and a focus on empowering others. And as I continue to grow in my leadership role at Thrive Digital, I remain committed to applying these insights and helping others along the way.
