Experiencing Youth Leadership in Action at Y4LS 2025

I had the incredible opportunity to attend the 11th Youth for Leadership Summit (Y4LS) —a powerful gathering of young leaders, innovators, and visionaries who are actively shaping the future. Indeed, the summit brought together students, professionals, and advocates united by a shared vision: to cultivate leadership rooted in purpose, innovation, and social impact.

Moreover, being part of this event was not only exciting but deeply meaningful, especially as it aligned with my own journey of growth and learning.

A Day That Started Before Sunrise

To begin with, the day began early for me, as I arrived at La Salle Greenhills at exactly 4:00 AM to help prepare for the event. Walking into the venue before sunrise, I witnessed the calm before the storm—a quiet space filled with anticipation. Gradually, the venue transformed as organizers, volunteers, and students arrived, bringing energy and life into every corner. Ultimately, seeing the summit come together from the ground up was a reminder that successful events are built on teamwork, dedication, and shared passion.

Behind the Scenes: Capturing Moments That Matter

Throughout the day, I stayed actively involved by capturing photos of sponsors, interacting with participants, and assisting with social media coverage. In fact, sharing the energy of the summit in real time added another layer of excitement to the experience. Additionally, each conversation with students revealed optimism, curiosity, and big ambitions. Consequently, being behind the scenes gave me a deeper appreciation for how storytelling and content creation play an essential role in amplifying meaningful initiatives like Y4LS.

Insights on AI, Leadership, and the Human Element

One of the most impactful aspects of the summit was the discussion on artificial intelligence and leadership. As a member of Gen Z, it was inspiring to see how young minds are thinking critically about the balance between innovation and responsibility. While AI has the power to accelerate learning, career growth, and creativity, the sessions emphasized an important truth: technology can support leadership, but it cannot replace human values such as empathy, integrity, and imagination. Therefore, this realization reinforced the idea that authentic leadership depends on emotional intelligence and purpose, not just technical skills.

Redefining What It Means to Lead

What struck me most, however, was the palpable buzz of curiosity and ambition in the room. Y4LS was more than just an event—it was a space where ideas met action, and young leaders actively shaped their vision for the future. As a result, being surrounded by driven individuals prompted deep reflection. Leadership, I realized, is not only about guiding others; it is about continuously learning, adapting, and inspiring while staying grounded in your values.

Leaving Inspired and Ready to Grow

By the end of the day, I felt more than accomplished—I felt energized and motivated. Indeed, the experience reminded me that events like Y4LS are impactful not only for attendees but also for organizers, volunteers, and contributors working behind the scenes. Ultimately, the collaboration, shared purpose, and meaningful connections are what make leadership real and memorable. Moving forward, I feel inspired to apply these lessons in my own work and personal growth, knowing that leadership starts with showing up and staying committed to making a difference.
