What happens when structured learning meets real-world challenges? The Action Learning Project (ALP) presentations at John Clements–EDI gave the newly hired employees a unique opportunity to transform learning into organizational impact. Indeed, more than a program requirement, the ALP allowed us Batch 8 learners to apply insights from the Breakthrough Development Program (BDP) to real-world challenges, producing innovative, actionable, and measurable solutions.
Throughout the program, learners highlighted the power of combining human creativity with AI tools, showing that thoughtful technology integration can amplify learning, analysis, and decision-making. For instance, from developing AI-driven recruitment solutions to designing engagement programs, the ALP highlighted how innovation, collaboration, and strategic thinking can drive measurable outcomes.
Linking Theory and Practice
To begin with, the ALP is designed to bridge the gap between theory and practical application. Each team was tasked with identifying a critical problem or opportunity relevant to JCCI-EDI. Moreover, guided by coaches or business unit leaders, learners applied research, session learnings, and analytical frameworks to propose feasible and innovative solutions.
Presentation Highlights
In addition, ALP presentations were conducted face-to-face, with each team allocated 20 minutes for the presentation and 10 minutes for Q&A. Every member participated, reinforcing collaboration, accountability, and shared ownership. Furthermore, visual aids, videos, and storytelling techniques enhanced clarity and engagement, making complex information accessible to the panel and audience alike.
The judging criteria focused on four areas: relevance to JCCI-EDI or alignment with organizational priorities, meaningfulness of the project, innovativeness of the idea, impact on JCCI-EDI, and quality of presentations.
The ALP Projects

Consequently, the ALP presentations featured six forward-thinking projects that addressed organizational challenges while displaying strategic application of program learnings. Presented in order:
- Feature Enhancement: AI-Driven Personalized Job Recommendations – Group 5
- Connect & Compete: A Peer-Based Monthly Engagement Program – Group 2
- HR360°: Unified HR Data Hub for Retention Insights – Group 4
- Building a Customized AI-Driven Mini CRM to Optimize Tracking of Leads, Prospects, and Customer Data – Group 1
- Project READY (Retention, Engagement, Analytics, Development Yield) – Group 6
- Q for Recruiting – Job Recommendation Feature – Group 3
Celebration and Completion
Finally, the culmination of the Breakthrough Development Program was marked by a joyful celebration during JCCI’s potluck event. After months of hard work, collaboration, and innovative thinking, we received recognition for successfully completing the program. Additionally, the event provided an opportunity for us to reflect on our journey and celebrate the professional growth gained along the way. It was a fitting conclusion to a program that not only honed our skills but also inspired us to lead with innovation and purpose.
Key Takeaways from the ALP Experience
As new hires, the ALP gave us a firsthand experience of how learning can be applied to create real impact. Indeed, AI proved to be a powerful ally, helping us analyze data, organize insights, and make smarter decisions faster. Yet, it was our critical thinking, creativity, and judgment that shaped solutions that could truly make a difference. Moreover, the program also reinforced how we communicate matters: presenting our ideas clearly with storytelling, visuals, and data ensures that our solutions are understood, valued, and actionable.
Above all, the ALP taught us that being proactive, curious, and open to learning from both people and technology positions us to drive meaningful change early in our careers at JCCI. We learned that innovation is not about replacing people but empowering them to act smarter, faster, and more strategically.
