JANUARY

Outsourcing Holds Three Kings Party

John Clements Consultants kicked off 2024 with the Three Kings Party hosted by the Outsourcing group on January 5. This joyous gathering brought together internal and outsourced employees for an evening of camaraderie, games, and festivities. The event featured lively activities such as charades and quizzes, a raffle with exciting prizes, and a delightful dinner. The gratitude and New Year wishes shared during the event truly set the tone for a promising start to the year.

Opportunities in Cybersecurity in the Philippine BPO Industry

On January 8, 2024, John Clements Consultants hosted a dinner discussion on “Opportunities in Cybersecurity in the Philippine BPO Industry,” featuring Dave DeWalt, Founder and CEO of NightDragon, as the keynote speaker. The event underscored the growing importance of cybersecurity in the Philippine BPO sector, emphasizing the need for robust strategies to address emerging digital challenges. DeWalt shared valuable insights on strengthening cybersecurity frameworks and supporting business resilience in an increasingly digital world. 

WEEKLY WITH JC—Navigating New Horizons: Philippine Economic Agenda 2024

The first Weekly with JC industry briefing of 2024, “Navigating New Horizons: Philippine Economic Agenda 2024,” featured three industry experts: Michael Ricafort, Chief Economist of RCBC; Jonas Ravelas, Senior Adviser at Reyes Tacandong & Co.; and Angelo Taningco, VP and Research Head at Security Bank Corp. They provided insights into the Philippine economic outlook for the year, emphasizing key priorities such as education, infrastructure, and healthcare. The discussion covered growth forecasts, challenges like inflation and employment, and opportunities for foreign investment.

Bingo Bonanza: Kicking Off a Year of Connection and Fun

On January 12, 2024, we hosted the first Bingo Bonanza of the year. With thrilling games, enthusiastic participants, and shared laughter, Bingo Bonanza set the tone for a year dedicated to strengthening bonds and nurturing a positive workplace culture. The event was so enjoyable that it was repeated multiple times throughout the year, each session continuing to energize and unite employees.

We began the year on a high note by hosting Harvard Business School Professor Ranjay Gulati for an exclusive dinner on January 12, 2024. Held at the Manila Golf & Country Club in Makati City, the event brought together leaders and partners for an evening of thought-provoking insights and engaging discussions. As we approached our 50th anniversary in November 2024, this memorable gathering set the tone for a year filled with inspiration, reflection, and growth in celebration of this significant milestone.

To kick off our 50th anniversary celebrations, the JCCI-EDI leadership team embarked on a transformative journey to Taiwan from January 18 – 21, 2024. They explored Taiwan’s rich cultural heritage, historical landmarks, and stunning natural beauty while reflecting on the company’s future. Highlights included visits to iconic destinations such as Taipei 101, Shifen Falls, and Yehliu Geopark, as well as a purpose-driven workshop. The trip celebrated the fusion of tradition and innovation, offering them valuable insights into leadership, cultural exploration, and Taiwan’s resilience. The launch of sky lanterns symbolized collective aspirations as John Clements charts its path for the next 50 years.

WEEKLY WITH JC—Bank on It: 2024’s Banking Trends & Opportunities

The second Weekly with JC session, “Bank on It: 2024’s Banking Trends & Opportunities,” featured Patricia May Siy, President of the Philippine Bank of Communications (PBCOM), and Val Bagatsing, Chairman and CEO of the Investment & Capital Corporation of the Philippines (ICCP). They shared insights into the evolving banking landscape, discussing key trends such as interest rate fluctuations, the recovery of deposits, and challenges in consumer loans. The session also emphasized the growing importance of ESG, digital banking, and cybersecurity in driving innovation and growth within the sector.

AI Meets CX: Transforming Customer Experience Through Artificial Intelligence

On January 25, 2024, we hosted an insightful discussion with Ravi Saraogi, Co-founder and President of APAC at Uniphore Software Systems. Held at the Shang Palace in Makati Shangri-La, the session explored how artificial intelligence is transforming customer experience and driving innovation. Ravi shared his expertise on leveraging AI technologies to enhance speech recognition, voice biometrics, and operational efficiency, highlighting how businesses can adapt to meet evolving customer needs in the digital age.

Strengthening Workplace Safety: John Clements Consultants First Aid Training

As part of our ongoing commitment to employee well-being, we conducted a transformative First Aid Training program across three sessions. Beginning on January 26, 2024, participants learned the fundamentals of first aid, including assessing emergency scenes and performing CPR. The second session focused on wound care, offering hands-on experience in identifying and treating various injuries. The final session addressed responding to medical emergencies such as strokes, asthma, and hypoglycemia. This initiative equipped our workforce with essential skills and fostered a culture of preparedness, collaboration, and resilience.

 

FEBRUARY

WEEKLY WITH JC—The Shared Services Symphony: Orchestrating Success in 2024

In the third episode of Weekly with JC, held on February 1, 2024, industry leaders shared strategies for overcoming challenges and achieving success in shared services for 2024 and beyond. Daniel Rupinta, Marilen Tuazon, and Samir Kumar provided insights into the growth of the Philippines’ IT-BPM industry, emphasizing collaboration, upskilling, automation, and business partnering. They also highlighted the importance of adaptability, talent empowerment, and innovation in navigating an ever-changing business landscape, underscoring the pivotal role of shared services in driving growth and innovation. 

WEEKLY WITH JC—Digital Dollars: Riding the 2024 Fintech Wave

On February 8, 2024, the Weekly with JC industry briefing, titled “Digital Dollars: Riding the 2024 Fintech Wave,” featured Todd Schweitzer, CEO of Brankas, and Raffie Javelona, Country Manager at Swift. The discussion focused on the rise of fintech in the Philippines, with Brankas leading the charge in open finance and digital banking. The session explored opportunities in digital payments, financial inclusion, and overcoming challenges such as cybersecurity and regulatory complexity. The conversation emphasized the importance of adaptation, education, and innovation as fintech continues to evolve in the Philippines, driving economic growth and improving access to financial services. 

EMBA 2024: Staying in the Game

 

The 2024 EMBA program began on February 14, 2024, offering an engaging 12-week journey into today’s most pressing topics. Participants explored areas such as Cybersecurity, Generative AI, Geopolitics, Global Health, and even Global Fun, gaining valuable insights and practical tools to navigate a rapidly evolving world. The program concluded with dynamic presentations of action learning projects, where participants showcased innovative strategies to enhance departmental efficiency using AI, highlighting the profound impact of their learning experience.

WEEKLY WITH JC—Wellness Wonders: The 2024 Healthcare & Pharmaceutical Breakthroughs

The next Weekly with JC session, titled “Wellness Wonders: The 2024 Healthcare & Pharmaceutical Breakthroughs,” was held on February 15, 2024. Featuring Vanee Gosiengfiao, General Manager of Consumer Healthcare at Sanofi, as the keynote speaker, along with panelists from Unilab and Trigio Enterprises, the session explored groundbreaking advancements in healthcare. Topics included personalized medicine, mRNA vaccine innovation, AI in drug discovery, and the impact of telemedicine on patient care.

On February 20-21, 2024, several of our senior leaders attended the NASSCOM Technology and Leadership Forum in Mumbai, held at the JIO World Convention Center. The 32nd edition of the event, themed “Shaping the Techade,” explored India’s growing role in the global digital landscape. The conference showcased India’s leadership as the largest global sourcing hub and a thriving start-up ecosystem. Key discussions focused on AI’s impact on skills, the need for reskilling, and strategies for leveraging AI to drive business growth. 

WEEKLY WITH JC—Estate Escapades: 2024’s Real Estate Revelations

On February 22, 2024, we hosted the Weekly with JC session titled “Estate Escapades: 2024’s Real Estate Revelations.” Industry experts Joey Radovan, Monique Pronove, and Claro Cordero shared insights into the evolving real estate market in the Philippines, including the growing demand for residential and commercial properties, the impact of millennials on investment strategies, and the rise in foreign interest. With sustainability and technology playing key roles, the 2024 landscape presents exciting opportunities for growth and innovation in the real estate sector.

The first session of the Weekly with JC Leadership & HR Series, “Getting a Head Start on HR Priorities in the Age of AI,” held on February 29, 2024, focused on the growing role of artificial intelligence (AI) in transforming human resource management. The discussion emphasized the need for HR departments to adapt to AI’s potential, focusing on human-centric productivity, trust and equity, corporate resilience, and fostering a digital-first culture. As AI continues to shape the future of work, HR must ensure that employees are well-prepared to thrive in this evolving landscape.

The next Weekly with JC session, held on March 7, 2024, focused on “BPM Brilliance: 2024’s IT-BPM Innovations.” Rahul Dewan, General Manager of Foundever, was joined by panelists Jaideep Pradhan, SVP and Geography Head of EXL, and Patrick Salazar, Country Head of Tech Mahindra Business Services. The discussion explored AI’s transformative role in the IT-BPM industry, highlighting innovations, workforce challenges, and future growth. Key insights included the resilience of the Filipino workforce, generative AI upskilling strategies, and the sector’s ambitious goal of surpassing $39 billion in revenue and 1.84 million jobs by mid-2024.

The next Weekly with JC industry briefing, held on March 14, 2024, focused on the evolving insurance industry as it enters a new era marked by innovation, digitization, and changing customer expectations. Raoul Antonio Littaua, President and CEO of Insular Life Assurance Co. Ltd., discussed the factors influencing life insurance penetration and opportunities driven by data analytics and digital tools. Panelists Rahul Hora, President and CEO of Manulife, and Martin Ledesma, Lead Consultant of LIMRA/LOMA, shared insights on addressing industry challenges, promoting financial literacy, and leveraging technology to drive growth and enhance customer engagement. 

Leadership Sessions with Tully Moss

On March 15, 2024, John Clements Consultants and Zenger Folkman hosted a breakfast session featuring Tully Moss, exploring cutting-edge leadership strategies. Participants gained insights on addressing talent shortages, leveraging generative AI responsibly, tackling disengagement, and identifying key leadership competencies for 2024. The session also highlighted the power of 360-degree assessments and data-driven approaches to strengthen leadership capabilities. Due to overwhelming demand, a second session was held later in the week, reinforcing the impact of these transformative discussions.

We held a comprehensive Disaster Preparedness Training to equip our staff with essential skills for responding to emergencies. The sessions, conducted on March 15, 22, and April 5, 2024, were led by a team of experts, who covered topics such as risk assessment, emergency response planning, evacuation procedures, and first aid techniques. Participants also received disaster tools like emergency blankets and flashlights, leaving the sessions better prepared and more confident. This initiative reinforces our commitment to employee safety and preparedness. 

WEEKLY WITH JC—Next Gen Tech Tales IT’s 2024 Breakthrough

At the ninth Weekly with JC event, titled “Next Gen Tech Tales: IT’s 2024 Breakthrough,” held on March 22, 2024, Karrie Ilagan, Managing Director of Cisco Philippines, shared her insights on the rapid evolution of technology. She emphasized the significance of AI, machine learning, and 5G, underscoring the need for the Philippines to enhance its AI readiness to remain competitive in the Asia-Pacific region, and urging swift action to leverage these technological advancements. 

Strengthening Partnerships in Japan

From March 25 to 29, 2024, Carol Dominguez and Cesar Averia traveled to Japan for a business trip. During their visit, they held meetings with executives from PERSOL Holdings, including CEO Wada-san and Chairman Mizuta-san; JFE Engineering; Obayashi Corporation; and the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo, where they met with Ambassador Mylene Garcia-Albano. These engagements focused on strengthening relationships with clients, exploring potential opportunities for collaboration, and reaffirming the company’s commitment to fostering global partnerships and delivering tailored solutions to meet the evolving needs of its clients.

 

APRIL 

WEEKLY WITH JC—Green Scene 2024’s Renewable Rundown

On April 11, 2024, John Clements Consultants hosted another episode of Weekly with JC, titled “Green Scene: 2024’s Renewable Rundown,” focusing on renewable energy in the Philippines. The session featured Rafael Toda, COO of Go Gridless, along with panelists Poch Ambrosio, VP for Regulatory Matters at Acen, and Alicia Morales, Managing Director of John Clements Leadership Institute. The discussion highlighted the role of solar, wind, hydroelectric, geothermal, and biomass energy in the country’s transition to a sustainable, low-carbon future. The session explored both the challenges and opportunities in renewable energy, including grid integration and energy storage, and underscored the need for collaboration to accelerate the shift toward clean energy. 

Japan Night

On April 12, 2024, John Clements, in partnership with Ruby Wong’s Godown Bar at the Admiral Hotel Manila, hosted JC Japan Night—a corporate networking event tailored for Japanese clients. Bringing together approximately 50 professionals from sectors such as manufacturing, finance, logistics, sales, and marketing, the evening provided a platform for meaningful connections and potential collaborations. A key highlight was the engaging discussion on balancing work and leisure in Japanese culture, with attendees sharing valuable insights on managing stress and embracing traditional pastimes.  

Cross Knowledge’s Xianxi Ning Visits Manila

In April, John Clements welcomed Xianxi Ning, CrossKnowledge’s APAC Development Director, during his first visit to Manila. Xianxi led a breakfast forum at Manila Golf Club, where he discussed talent development in the age of artificial intelligence and introduced new programs to address the growing skills gap. Throughout the week, he met with clients across various industries to explore challenges in leadership development, culture change, and technology adoption. His visit strengthened the partnership between John Clements and CrossKnowledge, setting the stage for future collaboration and innovative solutions. 

WEEKLY WITH JC Leadership & HR Series—Compensation & Benefits Trends

The second session of the Weekly with JC Leadership & HR Series, held on April 18, 2024, focused on compensation and benefits trends. The panel, featuring experts from John Clements Consultants, Mercer Philippines, Dexcom Philippines, ICCP, and JG Summit Holdings, Inc., discussed key findings from a pre-event survey. Insights revealed that organizations are re-evaluating compensation and benefits to address talent attraction and retention challenges, with a forecasted 6.2% salary increase in 2024. The panel emphasized the growing importance of Total Rewards, employee branding, and culture in retaining talent, as well as the need for companies to stay agile in response to shifting employee priorities. 

Badminton Night: A Smash Hit

On April 26, 2024, we held a successful Badminton Night at the Dragon Smash Badminton Center, bringing together both internal and outsourced employees for an action-packed evening. Players came together to enjoy spirited rallies and exhilarating volleys. A highlight was the doubles tournament, which encouraged collaboration among teammates. The event also provided casual games and socializing opportunities, promoting employee engagement and morale. The evening concluded with a sense of accomplishment and strengthened bonds, demonstrating the company’s commitment to creating a dynamic and inclusive workplace culture. 

 

MAY 

Health & Wellness Month—Zen Moves Yoga, Zumba, and Dance

At John Clements Consultants, promoting employee well-being is a priority. In May 2024, we organized a series of wellness activities, including Zumba, dance, and yoga sessions. The Zumba session kicked off the month with high-energy moves, fostering team bonding. The dance session encouraged creative expression, while the yoga session, led by our very own President and CEO Carol Dominguez, provided relaxation and mindfulness. These activities not only improved physical fitness but also strengthened relationships and supported JCCI’s commitment to a healthier, more engaged workplace. 

WEEKLY WITH JC Leadership & HR Series—Transforming Talent Management: A Deep Dive into Gen AI Advancements

In another episode of the Weekly with JC Leadership & HR Series on May 9, 2024, John Clements Consultants explored AI’s impact on talent management. Panelists, including Yusuf Jazakallah, Jaquelyn Barrios, Rowena Subido, and Girish Menon, discussed AI’s role in automating recruitment, improving productivity, and enhancing performance management. Yusuf demonstrated SniperAI, while Rowena showcased HR dashboards. Jaquelyn shared AI-driven tools like sentiment analysis and learning platforms at Genpact. The session also highlighted challenges like data privacy and balancing AI with human judgment, emphasizing a human-centric approach to integrating AI in HR. 

Zenger Folkman Holds International Partners Conference in Utah

The Zenger Folkman International Partners Conference took place on May 16-17, 2024, at the Zermatt Utah Resort and Spa in Midway, Utah, bringing together international partners from 14 countries. John Clements Consultants’ Tully Moss attended the event, which featured presentations on new services and success stories, including the positive impact of sustained leadership development. One highlight was Jack Zenger’s presentation on the benefits of long-term leadership programs. John Clements, who has had a relationship with Zenger Folkman for over a decade, was honored with a Zenger Folkman Growth Club award for increasing sales of Zenger Folkman’s services in 2023. 

 

JUNE 

Breakthrough Development Program Batch 6 Graduation

Following their successful Action Learning Project (ALP) presentations in April, participants of Batch 6 of our Breakthrough Development Program (BDP) graduated on June 5, 2024. The program is a key learning experience for new employees, designed to enhance personal effectiveness and develop the skills necessary for success in their roles and careers. It emphasizes collaboration and learning within the cohort, providing participants with valuable tools to excel in their professional journey.

WEEKLY WITH JC Leadership & HR Series—Championing Change with the New Generation of Leaders

On June 6, 2024, we hosted another episode of Weekly with JC Leadership & HR Series, titled “Championing Change with the New Generation of Leaders: Empowering Tomorrow’s Trailblazers.” The panel featured Marvin Tiu Lim, Chief Growth and Development Officer at Mega Prime Foods Inc.; Miko Biscocho, Sr. Director and Regional Head at Procter & Gamble; and Morris Vincent Agudo, President of MyFI Network. The discussion focused on leveraging generational strengths, achieving work-life balance, and fostering personal growth within leadership roles, emphasizing the importance of mentorship and continuous improvement for aspiring leaders. 

John Clements Consultants Blood Donation Drive

We hosted a successful bloodletting event at the Van Gogh Room in JC Hub on June 19, 2024, highlighting our dedication to health and wellness while promoting corporate social responsibility. Alongside blood donations, employees were offered free health checks, including blood pressure monitoring, blood sugar level checks, and blood typing. The event fostered a spirit of solidarity among colleagues while promoting health awareness. With 77 participants, the drive collected 47 bags of blood, significantly boosting the country’s blood supply. It strengthened relationships within the company and showcased the power of collective action for a greater cause. 

WEEKLY WITH JC Leadership & HR Series—Mastering Gen Z Management: A Millennial Leader’s Playbook for Success

The fifth session of the Weekly with JC Leadership & HR Series, titled “Mastering Gen Z Management: A Millennial Leader’s Playbook for Success,” took place on June 27, 2024. The session featured millennial leaders Angela Sy, CFO of Focus Global Inc.; Harshita Padalugu, Head of Data Science at EastWest Bank; and Rodrigo Giron De Leon, CFO of Prosegur. The discussion focused on strategies for millennial leaders to effectively engage and manage Generation Z in the workplace, emphasizing flexibility, autonomy, and transparency in fostering a productive and inclusive work environment. 

John Clements Demystifying AI Series

On June 28, July 3, and July 10, 2024, John Clements hosted a three-part series titled “Demystifying AI.” The series explored AI’s transformative potential and practical applications across various sectors. Sessions covered insights from Harvard Business School, the fundamentals of AI, and real-world AI tools in practice. Participants gained valuable knowledge on how AI is reshaping industries and discussed its impact on work processes, productivity, and innovation. This training series empowered attendees to understand and effectively leverage AI in their professional environments. 

 

JULY 

WEEKLY WITH JC Leadership & HR Series—Redefining Inclusion to Build a Diverse Working Environment

The sixth Weekly with JC Leadership & HR Series, held on July 11, 2024, focused on the theme “Redefining Inclusion: Creating Diverse and Thriving Work Environments.” Esteemed speakers Ibrahim “Ibba” Rasul Bernardo, Mardoni “Don” Arnaez, and Michael “Mike” Panlaqui shared insights on fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion. They highlighted practical approaches such as inclusive hiring practices, employee resource groups, and creating safe spaces to promote innovation, engagement, and organizational success. 

15th Cady Awards: Bringing the Magic Alive to AI

On July 19, 2024, JCCI-EDI came together for the 15th Cady Awards Night at the Admiral Hotel, celebrating the exceptional achievements of employees over the past year. This year’s theme, “Bringing the Magic Alive to AI,” showcased the innovative spirit and creative energy that drive success within the organization. The evening featured an impressive lineup of performances, with each division striving to blend creativity and technology into captivating displays of AI-driven artistry. The event was filled with recognition and gratitude, highlighting individual accomplishments and the collective excellence that defines John Clements. 

John Clements Consultants First SOC Cyber Analyst Reskilling Program Graduation

On July 20, 2024, John Clements Consultants celebrated the graduation of 31 participants from our first SOC Cyber Analyst Reskilling Program. After completing 12 weeks of intensive training, participants earned certifications in CISMP, CompTIA Security+, and C|SA. The ceremony recognized top performers and included an “Acing the Interview” session to prepare graduates for the next step in their careers. This milestone marks a significant achievement for both the participants and the program, reinforcing JCCI’s commitment to developing skilled professionals in the ever-evolving field of cybersecurity.

On July 29 and 30, 2024, we held our mid-year corporate planning session, focusing on the company’s growth amidst economic uncertainties, technological advancements, and geopolitical shifts. Key discussions revolved around AI integration, strategic planning, and new opportunities in emerging sectors. The session emphasized the importance of agility, innovation, and organizational resilience. Interactive workshops and presentations fostered collaboration and highlighted the company’s commitment to continuous learning, employee engagement, and forward-looking strategies, ensuring the company is well-positioned for future success. 

 

AUGUST 

Karaoke Night: Celebrating Talent and Team Spirit

The Karaoke Night, held on August 2, 2024, was a lively event designed to strengthen team bonds, celebrate diverse talents, and offer employees a chance to unwind. The evening featured a wide range of musical performances, showcasing the variety and creativity of our team. Beyond the performances, the event included an after-party where colleagues could socialize and further connect in an informal setting. Special awards were presented to outstanding performers, giving us a chance to lighten up and enjoy each other’s company. Overall, the event highlighted the importance of employee engagement and team spirit in creating a positive and collaborative workplace culture. 

JCCI-EDI Cybersecurity Training Program

John Clements Consultants hosted a Cybersecurity Training Program for its employees on August 8 and 9, 2024, facilitated by Sean Hanna, Founder and Director of Nemstar. The session provided valuable insights into the rising cybersecurity threats, including hacking techniques and ransomware attacks. Sean covered the “hack chain” and emphasized the importance of identifying vulnerabilities, such as weak passwords and outdated software, while highlighting proactive measures like multi-factor authentication and strong password practices. The training aimed to equip employees with the knowledge to protect both personal and corporate data, reinforcing the importance of continuous cybersecurity education and shared responsibility in safeguarding digital assets.

On August 14, 2024, JCCI-EDI employees attended the “Dressing for Success” workshop led by MJ Sama-Sy. A seasoned business development expert and beauty queen, MJ shared valuable insights on corporate attire, emphasizing the importance of dressing appropriately for different settings—casual, business casual, and business formal. Key takeaways included building a versatile wardrobe with timeless pieces, understanding the psychology of colors, and maintaining a consistent personal brand. MJ also discussed the significance of grooming, confidence, and dressing for meetings to make lasting, positive impressions. 

Sleep Well, Lead Well

On August 15, 2024, industry leaders and executives attended two key events focusing on sleep’s impact on leadership and productivity. The day began with a breakfast roundtable hosted by John Clements, followed by the Filipina CEO Circle’s (FCC) August General Members Meeting in the evening. Both events were co-hosted by iCare and featured renowned sleep expert Dr. Wong Sheau Hwa, who emphasized the significant role sleep—or the lack of it—plays in personal health and organizational success. 

WEEKLY WITH JC Leadership & HR Series—Women at the Helm: Navigating Leadership Challenges

In another episode of the Weekly JC Leadership & HR Series, titled “Women at the Helm – Navigating Leadership Challenges,” three inspiring women leaders shared their valuable insights on leadership. Malyn Molina, President & COO of EON Group, emphasized the importance of understanding the leadership environment and the traits women often bring to leadership during crises, such as collaboration and humility. Donna Grande, SVP for People at QBE, discussed the power of influence in leadership, highlighting the need to connect with and motivate teams. Atty. Kristine Padilla, SVP at ANZ Philippines, shared her journey of overcoming impostor syndrome and the importance of mentorship in leadership development. 

EDI’s Business Trip to Hongkong

Executives from EDI-Staffbuilders International visited Hong Kong on August 17-19, 2024, for a relationship review with one of their longest-running clients, an MRO for Cathay Pacific. This partnership has been ongoing since 1996, with EDI-Staffbuilders International having dispatched over 1,000 Filipino aircraft technicians to support Cathay Pacific’s operations. 

Make-up Magic: Turning Workdays to Runways

On August 22, 2024, John Clements Consultants hosted a makeup masterclass as part of the JC Learning Bites initiative, led by professional makeup artist Cristina Cacnio. The session focused on mastering a polished, natural corporate makeup look that enhances confidence in the workplace. Cristina emphasized the importance of great skincare, selecting the right foundation for a lightweight, buildable coverage, and choosing neutral tones for a professional, polished appearance. The session highlighted the power of blending and keeping makeup minimal, empowering employees to present their best selves without overwhelming their natural features. The goal: looking professional and feeling confident. 

Finding Balance with Iyengar Yoga

John Clements held its first in a series of Iyengar Yoga classes on August 28, 2024, with succeeding classes held every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Led by Yoga instructor Diane Ngo, classes focused on precision, alignment, and the use of props to make the practice accessible to all levels. Participants were introduced to foundational poses that emphasized flexibility, strength, and mental clarity. The sessions aim to improve posture, relieve stress, enhance circulation, and promote relaxation, providing long-term health benefits. This ongoing initiative supports employees’ well-being through a consistent, mindful approach to yoga.

JCCI-EDI Boardgame Night

On August 30, 2024, the JCCI-EDI team took a well-deserved break to unwind and bond over some classic board games. From intense chess matches to the unpredictable twists of Snakes and Ladders, and the steady hands needed for Jenga, it was a fun-filled afternoon. These moments of relaxation and laughter were just what we needed to recharge after a busy week. 

A Golf Clinic with Coach Dan Sais

On August 31, 2024, the Manila Polo Club Driving Range served as the venue for the first of a series of golf clinics organized for aspiring golfers at JCCI-EDI. Led by Coach Dan Sais, a certified US PGA Professional with over 25 years of experience, the clinic offered beginners a comprehensive introduction to the fundamentals of golf. Coach Dan’s structured approach emphasized precision, grip, aim, and alignment, providing participants with a solid foundation. His personalized instruction and insight into the mental and emotional aspects of the game made the clinic an enriching experience for all involved.

Celebrating Cesar Averia’s Birthday

On September 4, 2024, a special celebration was held at the JC Hub to mark the 67th birthday of Cesar Averia Jr., President and CEO of EDI Staffbuilders International, a subsidiary of John Clements Consultants. The event, attended by the JCCI-EDI team, was a simple yet meaningful gathering that celebrated Mr. Averia’s leadership and contributions. Guests enjoyed a delicious Filipino feast featuring traditional lechon and palabok. Mr. Averia took a moment to express his gratitude for his team’s hard work, making the event a memorable tribute to his leadership and dedication. 

Command the Conversation: Elevate Your English Skills

On September 5, 6, and 12, 2024, the JCCI-EDI team attended the “Command the Conversation: Elevate Your English Skills” workshop, led by the dynamic Angeline “Lilet” La Viña. The sessions provided valuable lessons on grammar rules, focusing on common mistakes like subject-verb agreement, verb tense usage, and preposition errors. Angeline’s engaging approach helped the team better understand key concepts, such as “confusables,” tense consistency, and correct noun usage. By the end of the workshop, the team gained greater confidence in their grammar skills, ready to apply their learning to both personal and professional conversations.

On September 6, 2024, John Clements Consultants hosted the 7th CEO Golf Classic, a key event leading up to the company’s 50th anniversary. The tournament, held at the prestigious Manila Golf Club, attracted 97 top CEOs and business leaders. Despite a week of relentless rain, the event was graced with perfect weather, adding to the excitement and success. The day featured friendly competition, networking, and numerous prizes, including luxurious stays, adventure tickets, and spa treatments. This event not only highlighted sportsmanship but also reinforced John Clements’ commitment to excellence, bringing together the best in business for a celebration of leadership.

We celebrated the birthday of Mrs. Lil Dominguez, our esteemed Chairman, in a heartfelt gathering on September 17, 2024. The event honored her leadership and the profound impact she continues to have on John Clements Consultants. The day was filled with gratitude, reflection, and joy, beginning with a moving mass and followed by tributes and a special lunch with 90 attendees. Mommy Lil’s warmth, wisdom, and unwavering dedication continue to shape our organization, and the celebration was a testament to her ongoing influence. We extend our heartfelt wishes to her as she continues to inspire us all. 

Mind the Gap: Understanding the Multigenerational Workforce

On September 18, 2024, a session titled “Mind the Gap: Understanding the Multigenerational Workforce” led by Raphael “Raph” Santos, Head of Mental Health Solutions at MedGrocer, provided valuable insights on mental health in the workplace across different generations. Raph highlighted the challenges of effective communication and mental health support as five generations coexist in the workforce. The session explored wellness strategies, including stress management and mental health support, as well as organizational interventions using the COMES framework. Raph also emphasized the vital role of leaders and supervisors in supporting mental health through active listening and transparency. 

JCCI-EDI Fun Run

The JCCI-EDI teams came together for a memorable Fun Run on September 21, 2024, that promoted health, wellness, and relaxation. The event provided a refreshing break for internal and outsourced employees, offering a chance to unwind and connect in a casual, uplifting environment. Leadership participation further strengthened bonds, as executives and department heads ran alongside their teams. The Fun Run emphasized the importance of physical well-being and personal connections, leaving participants with a sense of accomplishment and rejuvenation. Due to its success, the Fun Run became a monthly event, highlighting JCCI-EDI’s commitment to fostering a healthy, positive, and collaborative work environment. 

 

OCTOBER 

Engage, Inspire, Persuade: Transform Your Presentations

On October 2, 2024, John Clements hosted a transformative session titled “Engage, Inspire, Persuade,” led by Michael Cannon from the John Clements Leadership Institute. This workshop focused on refining presentation skills, covering critical aspects such as executive presence, audience engagement, and confidence. Michael emphasized the importance of preparation, including thorough research and rehearsal, as well as the ability to adapt to audience feedback in real time. Attendees walked away with practical strategies for enhancing their communication and leaving a lasting impression in any professional setting. 

Coaching for Success: A Refresher Course

We participated in an insightful executive coaching session titled “Coaching for Success: A Refresher Course,” led by Tully Moss, on October 3 and 9, 2024. Tully, a certified coach recognized by Zenger Folkman and The Leadership Circle, shared valuable insights into the executive coaching process. The sessions covered key aspects such as building trust, asking powerful questions, and adapting to generational differences in the workplace. Key takeaways included the GROW Model, which helps guide coaching sessions towards actionable outcomes. The sessions emphasized the importance of executive coaching in developing adaptive leaders and fostering a positive organizational culture. 

The Art & Craft of Discussion Leadership

On October 4, 2024, we attended “The Art and Craft of Discussion Leadership,” a workshop led by Tully Moss. The session emphasized active participation through the case study method, exploring real-world challenges like classroom dynamics and climbing Mt. Everest. Participants engaged in rich discussions, drawing insights from diverse perspectives. Tully also shared facilitation techniques for guiding conversations, fostering critical thinking, and uncovering deeper lessons. The interactive format, paired with shared anecdotes, highlighted the value of collaboration in learning. This enriching experience reinforced the importance of dynamic engagement in creating impactful and meaningful educational environments.  

JCCI-EDI Oktoberfest 2024

The JC Hub was filled with energy and excitement on October 11, 2024, as it welcomed over 130 attendees for the much-anticipated Oktoberfest 2024. After a break due to the pandemic in 2020, this marked the second year John Clements brought back the popular event, first launched in 2010. The celebration featured a blend of Filipino and German traditions, offering a variety of food, beer, and games that encouraged friendly competition and camaraderie among employees. The event also served as an opportunity to build connections across departments, fostering unity and providing a fun, relaxing environment for both internal and outsourced staff. The night concluded with a lively karaoke session, ensuring the celebration ended on a high note. 

2nd JCCI-EDI Inter-Division Golf Tournament

The sport of golf has become a key part of John Clements Consultants’ culture thanks to the encouragement of President and CEO Carol Dominguez. This passion for the sport was on full display on October 12, 2024, during the 2nd JCCI-EDI Inter-Division Golf Tournament at the Philippine Army Golf Course in Bonifacio Global City. The event brought together both novice and seasoned golfers, with teams competing in a friendly but competitive 9-hole tournament. The day concluded with a late lunch, where participants shared their experiences and celebrated their performances. 

EDI Goes to Finland

From October 14 to 20, 2024, representatives from EDI-Staffbuilders International embarked on a remarkable trip to Finland, blending professional insights with cultural exploration. Over the week, the team engaged in productive business meetings focused on recruitment strategies for the healthcare sector, particularly for Filipino nurses deployed in Finland. The visit also included site tours of elderly care centers and practical nursing schools, offering firsthand insights into the working environments. Cultural experiences, such as attending a ballet performance and enjoying traditional Finnish cuisine, strengthened professional relationships. This enriching journey reinforced EDI’s commitment to supporting Filipino talent and fostering cross-cultural connections.

To foster connections among HR leaders, JCCI and iCare organized a special event at the Iloilo Museum of Contemporary Art (ILOMOCA). Held at Casa de Emperador in Iloilo Business Park, the exclusive gathering allowed HR professionals to explore the museum’s impressive art collection. The event featured a fireside chat moderated by JCCI President and CEO Carol Dominguez, with guest Ed Valencia. Titled “Nourishing Minds and Souls: Insights on Art and HR,” the discussion explored the intersection of art and creativity in human resources, highlighting how creativity can enhance workplace culture and employee engagement. 

Special EMBA Sessions on the Israel-Hamas Conflict

In light of the escalating crisis at the Israel-Gaza border, JCCI leadership attended a series of urgent EMBA sessions facilitated by Tully Moss. These sessions, held on October 18, October 25, and November 3, 2024, aimed to provide a deeper understanding of the conflict through a historical lens. Despite the short notice, participants prepared by reading a detailed case on Israel, emphasizing the urgency of understanding the situation’s complexities and its potential to escalate into a wider conflict. The sessions underscored our commitment to staying informed and engaged with global events.

10th Youth for Leadership Summit

The Youth for Leadership Summit (Y4LS) 2024, on its 10th anniversary, brought together young leaders and changemakers from around the world under the theme “Charting New Paths: Dream, Act, Win” on October 18, 2024. The event featured inspiring sessions including a keynote on success, fireside chats on mental well-being, and a deep dive into AI’s future. With impactful talks from industry leaders and sponsors like Genpact and CXS Analytics, Y4LS 2024 empowered participants to dream big, take action, and create meaningful change in their communities. 

Commemorating the 93rd Birthday of Leocadio J. Dominguez

On October 18, 2024, JCCI-EDI gathered to celebrate the 93rd birthday of its founder, Leocadio “Cady” J. Dominguez, whose vision and leadership shaped the company’s enduring legacy. The event began with a Mass and a lunch where colleagues shared memories and tributes, reflecting on Cady’s profound impact. His legacy of leadership, mentorship, and commitment to excellence continues to inspire the company and its people. As JCCI celebrates its 50th anniversary, the event served as a reminder of Cady’s enduring influence, with colleagues expressing gratitude for the wisdom and opportunities he provided, ensuring his vision lives on in the work and success of the company. 

Your Path to Financial Well-Being

John Clements employees attended a learning session titled “Your Path to Financial Well-Being,” led by Ms. Jon Ilagan, on October 23, 2024. The seminar addressed the challenges that many Filipinos face on their journey to financial independence, revealing that only 2% of the population has achieved financial freedom. Ms. Ilagan explored key obstacles like a lack of financial knowledge, skills, and mentorship, while also sharing essential habits that can help individuals overcome these barriers. By adopting habits such as discipline, learning, and sound financial planning, Filipinos can create a strong foundation for financial freedom and ultimately achieve a more secure future. 

Carol Dominguez Receives Harvard Alumni Association Award for Exceptional Service

On October 25, 2024, Carol Dominguez, CEO of John Clements Consultants, was recognized by Harvard University for her exceptional service as a Harvard alumna. The award ceremony, held at the Charles Hotel in Cambridge, Massachusetts, honored Carol as one of six recipients, with only two from Asia. Carol’s leadership in strengthening the Harvard alumni community in the Philippines and globally, as well as her efforts to support young Filipinos pursuing education at Harvard, were key factors in her recognition. We celebrate Carol’s accomplishments and her ongoing dedication to educational advancement.

On November 14, 2024, EDI-Staffbuilders International (EDI) celebrated its 45th anniversary at Shangri-La at the Fort. The event highlighted EDI’s journey from a Filipino recruitment pioneer to a global leader. Guests from around the world, including key partners from Saudi Arabia, Finland, and Spain, praised EDI’s commitment to ethical recruitment practices. CEO Cesar Averia reflected on the company’s history and partnerships, while international speakers shared their positive experiences with EDI. The evening concluded with a traditional Japanese ceremony, symbolizing EDI’s continued commitment to excellence, innovation, and ethical practices in recruitment.

The John Clements Consultants 50th Anniversary celebration on November 15, 2024, at the Admiral Hotel Manila was a glamorous tribute to five decades of excellence. The evening featured performances by the Manila Symphony Orchestra String Quartet and soprano Rebecca Moeller, followed by a heartfelt speech from President and CEO Carol Dominguez. The John Clements Leadership Awards recognized outstanding achievements in innovation, diversity, and leadership. Ogie Alcasid’s performance energized the crowd, and the night ended with a spectacular fireworks display. The event celebrated not only the company’s history but also its bright future, marked by lasting partnerships and achievements. 

Mindful Breaks: Recharge Your Inner Peace

On November 26, 28, and December 3, 2024, the Mindful Breaks: Recharge Your Inner Peace meditation sessions offered participants a unique opportunity to reconnect with themselves. Led by Tully Moss, the sessions included silent and guided meditation techniques designed to promote emotional healing and mental clarity. Participants experienced a sense of calm as they focused on their breath and visualized letting go of emotional pain. The sessions emphasized the importance of mindfulness in reducing stress, improving emotional health, and increasing self-awareness. Thhe session provided a valuable tool for fostering inner peace and emotional well-being in today’s fast-paced world.

Hollywood Glam & Holiday Cheer: JCCI-EDI Christmas Party 2024

We gathered at the Manila Golf and Country Club on December 6, 2024, to celebrate our Christmas Party, themed “Hollywood Glam & Holiday Cheer.” Following our spectacular 50th anniversary celebration, we came together once more to reflect on the milestones achieved throughout the year and look forward to the bright future ahead. The night was filled with glitz, glamour, and good vibes as we enjoyed cocktails, appetizers, and an open dance floor, while a 2024 recap video showcased our company’s remarkable achievements. It was an evening of celebration and camaraderie, marking another unforgettable chapter for the JCCI-EDI family.

On December 7, 2024, Carol Dominguez, President and CEO of John Clements Consultants, was honored with the Distinguished Alumnus Award by the Cesar E.A. Virata School of Business at the University of the Philippines Diliman. This prestigious recognition celebrates Carol’s exceptional leadership and contributions to the business and consulting sectors. Carol, who has shaped John Clements into a leading provider of recruitment, leadership development, and talent solutions, was recognized for her dedication to excellence. Her commitment extends beyond business, with significant contributions to academic programs at UP, including teaching and donating valuable resources to future leaders. 

JCCI-EDI Christmas Potluck

The annual JCCI-EDI Christmas Potluck on December 23, 2024, was a joyful celebration of togetherness. Employees shared homemade dishes, including cherished family recipes, creating a festive feast. The event featured fun games for both children and adults, spreading holiday cheer. Highlights included the children’s mini-games and the generous gesture of our President and CEO, who handed out cash gifts to employees’ children. It was a heartwarming gathering filled with laughter, gratitude, and camaraderie. As the year ended, this festive occasion celebrated unity and joy, bringing colleagues together like family to embrace the holiday spirit and the year ahead.
