Where Every Dish Tells a Story: JCCI–EDI Christmas Potluck Party 2025

It feels fitting to return to where it all began. After all, my first article for the JC Lookingglass was written for the Christmas Potluck in 2023. Even now, years later, this tradition is regarded as one of the most anticipated and heartfelt gatherings in the JCCI–EDI calendar.

More Than Just a Feast

To begin with, the JCCI–EDI Christmas Potluck has been cherished within the John Clements and EDI family since the early 2000s. More than just a festive get-together, it is celebrated as a union of shared stories, cultures, and generations. These moments are brought together through food lovingly prepared and shared. Some dishes were chosen as personal favorites, while others were treasured family recipes passed down through generations. Each dish carried a story of its own.

Over time, the potluck has evolved into something far deeper than tables filled with food. It has been molded by time into a tradition that connects people and honors simple, meaningful moments. These include gratitude for another year of dedication, compassion, and shared success. Ultimately, it is where the spirit of Christmas feels most genuine.

This Year’s Celebration

This year’s celebration was held at the Van Gogh Room, JC Hub. Tables quickly filled with home-prepared dishes contributed by employees across JCCI and EDI. As a result, the room reflected what the potluck truly represents: warmth, togetherness, and familiarity.

Program Highlights

The program began with the infectious energy of hosts Yvette Nazareno and Joshua Jumapao. Soon after, a prayer was offered, followed by the much-anticipated JCCI–EDI Year-End Video. It showcased milestones, events, and moments that shaped the year—from January through December. Watching the highlights unfold on screen served as a powerful reminder of how much was accomplished together.

Following that, Ms. Maria Carolina Dominguez delivered her opening remarks, officially welcoming everyone to the potluck and the celebration.

Honoring Achievements

Before the celebration began, the program honored the Graduation of the Breakthrough Development Program (BDP) Batch 8 ALP graduates. It was a proud moment that highlighted growth, commitment, and continuous learning within the organization.

The Feast

Then came the part everyone looks forward to most—the feast. Without a doubt, this remains my favorite part of the potluck. It offers the chance to experience home-cooked dishes made with care and tradition. I always look forward to Ms. Carol’s homemade turkey, along with beloved Filipino favorites such as adobo, pasta, and pancit palabok. Additionally, this year, 60 pieces of Lumpiang Shanghai were prepared by me. Much to my delight, they disappeared faster than any other appetizer on the table.

Music and Performances

After the meal, the celebration continued with music. Angelica Leonardo and I performed “Bibingka” by Ben&Ben, accompanied by guitar thanks to Ralph Marty. The performance added a warm and festive soundtrack to the afternoon.

Next, one of the most heartwarming moments was witnessed—the children’s dance performance. It featured employees’ kids, nephews, and grandchildren. Their energy and joy filled the room, drawing smiles and applause from everyone in attendance.

Raffles and Surprises

The excitement carried on with the Minor Raffle Prizes. Pamasko was distributed to the children by Ms. Maria Carolina Dominguez—a moment that truly captured the spirit of giving and Christmas cheer.

Soon after, the winners of the Top 3 People’s Choice Award for Best Dish were announced. These recognized the most-loved dishes as voted by the crowd. Finally, the program culminated in the Major Raffle Draw, with a Samsung tablet awarded as the grand prize.

Closing Reflections

The celebration concluded with Closing Remarks by CAA Cesar Averia, President of EDI Staffbuilders. He reflected on the true meaning of the potluck. His words reminded everyone that beyond food and festivities, this annual tradition represents how JCCI–EDI continues to treat one another—not just as colleagues, but as family.

As the afternoon came to a close, it was clear once again why the Christmas Potluck holds such a special place in our hearts. In every shared dish, every laugh, and every moment, the spirit of togetherness lives on—year after year.
