Technological Skills Revolution: Thriving in the Workplace

One of the keynote speakers at the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) of the Philippines Talent Summit was Michelle Alarcon, founder of Z-Lift Solutions, Inc., a premier analytics consulting firm established in 2013. She also co-founded the Analytics and Artificial Intelligence Association of the Philippines (AAP) in 2017. Michelle previously served as Head of Learning at For the Women Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides free data science training to underprivileged women.

Introducing the Philippine Skills Framework (PSF)

In her keynote titled “Technological Skills Revolution: Thriving in the Workplace,” Michelle presented the Philippine Skills Framework (PSF), a comprehensive guide that outlines the key skills individuals need to succeed and grow in various industries. The PSF allows workers to assess their current competencies, identify areas for improvement, and access targeted learning programs to enhance their employability and adaptability.

Lifelong Learning in a Rapidly Evolving World

A central theme in her presentation was the critical importance of lifelong learning. Michelle emphasized that in today’s dynamic and unpredictable world of work, the ability to learn continuously is just as important as the specific skills themselves.

Global Insights from the AI Action Summit

As a leader in the technology space, she also discussed insights from the AI Action Summit held earlier this year—a global event that brought together representatives from over 100 countries to explore the transformative impact of artificial intelligence on society and the future of work. Michelle highlighted four key takeaways from the summit:

  1. Strengthening education and training systems, particularly for youth, alongside continuous learning and reskilling programs to keep pace with rapid technological change.
  2. Promoting worker autonomy and capability within AI-integrated workplaces.
  3. Identifying and scaling best practices that foster employee engagement and motivation while using AI tools.
  4. Ensuring that leadership actively monitors and assesses the impact of AI on organizational workflows and culture.

Aligning with the Philippine Skills Framework

These insights closely align with the objectives of the Philippine Skills Framework, particularly within the technology sector. Michelle underscored the urgency of upskilling and reskilling the Filipino workforce, along with the need for strategic investments in education and training to remain competitive in the evolving global economy.

Building Strong Public-Private Partnerships

She also called attention to the importance of strong partnerships between the government and the private sector—not only to align talent development with industry needs but also to establish clear guidelines for the ethical and responsible use of AI in the workplace.
