My previous superiors in EDI-Staffbuilders International, the leading overseas recruitment company in the Philippines, always tell us that our job is a noble one. Providing decent jobs to a lot of Filipinos without charging or collecting any money from them, though the norm is for recruitment companies to charge their clients and at the same time also collect some sort of placement fees for its candidates. This practice is being done by the majority of stakeholders in the industry because this is allowed by law. Majority (almost 95% or higher) of the recruitment companies in the Philippines charge placement fees to the Filipino talents, with the exception of a handful of ethical recruitment companies, EDI-Staffbuilders being one of them.
For more than 40 years in the business, the major principle in EDI is to supply quality talents to its clientele by basing our sourcing and shortlisting on the qualification of the candidates and not based on their capability to pay placement fees.
From its humble beginnings in Bahrain, and later on in Saudi Arabia, and other Middle East/GCC countries, EDI-Staffbuilders is now placing Filipino talents all over the world and concentrating in the following industries:
- Banking and Finance
- Oil and Gas
- Engineering & Construction
- Power and Telecommunication
- Manufacturing
- Healthcare
- Automotive
- Aviation
- Transportation
- Hospitality
- Services
EDI-Staffbuilders does extensive marketing initiatives to ensure that we come up with key clients that regularly recruit highly suitable talents from the Philippines. We are the only recruitment agency from the country that maintains a satellite office in Saudi Arabia, and does regular visits in other major target markets, i.e., Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain, Czech Republic, Japan, Canada, the United States of America, Finland, Germany, Poland, among others.
With our extensive experience in the placement of Filipinos for decades, we’ve witnessed that, although the Middle East is home to around 3 million Filipinos, there are still a lot of opportunities out there, and that is why EDI is continuously in a search for new markets and key clients where we can place our fellow Filipinos. We used to have the majority of our deployments to the Middle East, which used to account for around 80% of our total. Our aim as a company is to do less in the Middle East and have major exposure in other developing countries.
Currently, we are able to develop 3 very interesting markets (aside from the other ones that we were able to develop in the past years like the USA, Canada, and other European countries), namely, Germany, Finland and Japan. They have one thing in common and that is we need to train our candidates to speak the local language before we can deploy them. Our advice to our OFW’s is for them to really invest in these language training courses which will increase their chances of landing a very lucrative job abroad.
My experience with EDI-Staffbuilders International and in overseas recruitment is indeed a noble one. As we always say – EDI stands for Excellent talents, Decent jobs and Improved lives.
