That all too familiar feeling of being here — in this situation — before. Eerie. Scary. Frustrating.
It’s a bag of mixed emotions and a whole lot of scrambled thoughts running through your head. This was where we were a year ago, when everyone was forced to stay indoors in the wake of a pandemic literally having its way everywhere on this planet. Well, that’s an exaggeration — of course, there were a few bright spots where leaders knew what to do. But for most of us, we were just plain scared to get infected or infect our families. And as if this was not enough, a large number of people worried about how to feed their children or how to attend to their elderly. Having gone through this for one whole year, you’d think we’ve all learned how to deal with it by now. And yet, most of us are still scared because of all the uncertainty.
2020 taught us to live on a day-to-day basis, while realizing all the things we should prepare for. We realize things we should have done, words we should have said to loved ones, and at the same time, we look forward to making up for whatever was lost. While there is regret, there is still so much to hope for. My personal realization is that my kids need a better place to grow, enjoy, and learn. I regret that I was not able to provide them with that, but I look forward to making it happen in the very near future.
I find hope in the thought that we will eventually overcome this. It may take some time, but we’ll get there. There is hope when people come together to help each other. There is hope in the fact that medical professionals are fighting this pandemic even when the odds are stacked against them. There is hope that as vaccinations are being rolled out, albeit slowly, we will eventually be vaccinated. At this point, this is all we have — hope that each of us will pull through; hope that we will overcome.
This was the message last April 17, 2021 at the John Clements Monthly Sales & Production Conference. That despite where we are and what we are going through, there is still so much to look forward to. The present may be dim, but the future is bright. There is so much waiting for us at the end of the tunnel. We may not see it now, but we can always hope for it and, more importantly, work for it.
Such was true for our awardees, whose efforts were recognized. Jari Astilla was named Sales Consultant, while Kathryn Diolazo was named Production Consultant of the month for March 2021. Both are in the same storm as all of us, but they’ve decided to keep pushing forward.
At the end of the day, this is all we need to do — keep pushing forward as we ride out this storm that is the pandemic and pick up and help some people along the way.
