Last June 10, Diageo welcomed guests to Beyond the Bottle Open House Experience, an immersive journey into the world of Scotch whisky. The event highlighted the craftsmanship, heritage, and innovation that define Scotland’s most iconic spirit.
More than a tasting event, the experience offered participants a deeper understanding of whisky production, regional character, and the artistry behind every bottle.
Scotch Whisky: Tradition Meets Regulation
Scotch whisky is one of the most tightly regulated spirits in the world. To earn the name “Scotch,” it must meet strict legal standards. These requirements protect its authenticity and preserve centuries of tradition.

Key Requirements for Scotch Whisky
- Distilled and fully matured in Scotland
- Made using only water, yeast, and whole grain cereals
- Matured in oak casks of no more than 700 liters for at least three years
- Bottled at a minimum of 40% alcohol by volume (ABV)
These regulations help maintain the quality and reputation of Scotch whisky worldwide. For additional information about Scotch whisky regulations and standards, visit:
