Reflections from the 34th Nasscom Technology & Leadership Forum, Mumbai 2026

Attending the NASSCOM Technology & Leadership Forum (NTLF) is always an eye-opening experience. On its 34th edition, it was held at the Fairmont Mumbai. Returning after nine years, it was striking to witness the evolution of technology, leadership, and the rapid integration of AI into business and society.

India’s Premier Platform for Innovation

NTLF has established itself as India’s premier platform connecting technology, innovation, and leadership. Over three decades, it has fostered discussions that aim to shape a future where technology serves human needs. The forum brings together industry leaders, innovators, and thinkers to explore emerging trends, build partnerships, and envision actionable strategies to leverage technology responsibly.

Keynote: Acceleration and Risk

The keynote set the tone: “Tech goes through major discontinuity and comes back stronger. All technologies are accelerating simultaneously.” AI dominated conversations, from reshaping IT services to reimagining business processes. Model development has accelerated from 80 days to just five, forcing organizations to balance trust with agility and resilience.

Looking back at 2025, the year was anything but a recalibration phase. Projects like Project Strawberry, once struggling with scale, had by early 2026 achieved triple-exponential growth, with AI now handling 100% of coding tasks in some contexts. This is a clear marker of AI-driven business transformation.

Agentic AI and Product Nation

Sindu, another speaker, raised provocative questions about India’s evolution into a product nation: “People will make things on their own? Build versus buy?” She highlighted agentic AI, where users interact with software in natural language, but cautioned, “We still need the data, integrity of the data… implementation is about orchestration.”

Consequently, discussions demonstrated how AI isn’t merely a tool—it’s an enabler to compress costs, transform workflows, and retire technical legacy systems. For example, AI’s impact on legacy platforms like COBOL can turn billion-dollar projects into million-dollar ones. This is another dimension of AI-driven business transformation.

Augmented Intelligence and Startups

A highlight of the day was the session on Emma.Love, a startup launched on Valentine’s Day 2025. From a pre-AI team of 300+ people, the company now operates with 4 people in 40 days, relying heavily on AI. “AI coding for AI, AI training AI—the largest opportunity on the planet,” the founder remarked.

Yet he warned of hype versus reality: “The reality is too geeky. Expect to be wiped out if you do not experiment.” Specifically, this reflects the era of augmented intelligence—humans and machines collaborating, where routine tasks give way to deep research and innovation. For India, the opportunity is not merely to participate but to reshape industries and reclaim legacy value through AI-driven business transformation.

Leadership, Skills, and Culture

NTLF 2026 stressed that continuous learning is non-negotiable. Leaders are encouraged to act as “learning catalysts,” celebrating employees as subscribers to a streaming-platform-like learning culture. Upskilling and reskilling were positioned as skills-as-currency.

  • Storytelling
  • Mental wellness
  • Listening
  • Judgment

These qualities remain irreplaceable by AI. Furthermore, culture was emphasized—not slogans on walls but behaviors that support learning and experimentation. Psychological safety, transparency around AI adoption, and human-centric approaches were repeatedly highlighted.

AI, Software, and Industry Transformation

The forum showcased AI’s impact across sectors. In automotive manufacturing, AI enhances quality inspections and streamlines the supply chain. But human oversight remains critical: “Software and AI together are powerful, but human intervention is important—AI won’t fix specific problems in the code on its own.”

Discussions extended to logistics and aerial delivery, emphasizing optimization of movement and energy rather than simply transporting goods. Neuroscience sessions highlighted the brain as a high-energy decision-making machine, consuming one-third of our body’s energy, yet processing only 15 bits per second consciously. Consequently, AI augmentation is crucial for scaling human intelligence and driving AI-driven business transformation.

Conclusion: The Next Frontier

Day 1 of NTLF 2026 reinforced that India is in a pivotal transition phase. From digitization to full-scale digital transformation, the country’s technology ecosystem is evolving rapidly. Enterprises, startups, and leaders must adopt an AI-first approach while investing in people, culture, and processes to remain competitive globally.

In conclusion, returning to NTLF after nearly a decade was a reminder of how much has changed—and how much potential lies ahead. The forum offers more than insights; it provides a blueprint for navigating disruption, embracing innovation, and shaping a future where technology amplifies human potential through AI-driven business transformation.
