Leadership Retreat in Hong Kong

We kicked off Day 3 of the John Clements Hong Kong Leadership Retreat with a hearty buffet breakfast at Momo Café, setting the tone for an HK leadership retreat experience that quickly transitioned into adventure at The Peak.

Peak Tram to Peak Tower

First, our group bought tickets and rode the Peak Tram to Peak Tower. The historic funicular—operating since 1888—remains one of the world’s oldest and most famous of its kind, and the incline creates that quirky “tilted buildings” illusion on the way up. At the top, Peak Tower and Sky Terrace 428 anchor the experience with dining, shops, and the city’s highest viewing platform at 428 meters above sea level.

Peak Circle Loop Walk: Harlech → Lugard

Next, we began the Peak Circle Loop Walk—a mostly level, paved trail wrapping Victoria Peak via Harlech Road and Lugard Road. The route offers sweeping views over Victoria Harbour and easy access from near Peak Tower. We paused at the High West Picnic Area, stretched, and re‑hydrated. Then we continued toward Lugard Road, where the famed viewpoints delivered those postcard skyline panoramas. After roughly two hours and 6,200 steps, we regrouped near the Lion’s Pavilion by the Peak Tram terminus for a quick photo before descending. Finally, we rode the tram downhill—always a thrilling, steep return.

LockCha: Tea Culture and Vegetarian Dim Sum

Afterward, we walked to LockCha for lunch. The teahouse specializes in Chinese tea and vegetarian dim sum, making it a great fit for a lighter, gut‑friendly meal. LockCha’s locations include Hong Kong Park (flagship) and Tai Kwun, both known for curated teas and cultural programming.

Queen’s Road Central: Shopping & Dinner

Later, we explored Queen’s Road Central—Hong Kong Island’s first road and a historic artery that now runs through key commercial districts. Then we wrapped the afternoon with dinner at a Chinese restaurant along Queen’s Road Central and capped the night with a brisk 2 km walk back to the hotel.

Leadership in Action: Trust and Shared Purpose

Beyond the steps (17,934 by day’s end), the day reinforced trust and alignment. The reflections echoed insights from Ranjay Gulati’s Deep Purpose, which shows how leaders who embed purpose deeply—beyond slogans—strengthen credibility, consistency, and shared meaning that unlock performance.
