The John Clements Executive MBA (JC EMBA) 2026 program kicked off its “Hot Topics for 2026” series on January 8, 2026. To begin with, this 12-session program is designed to explore some of the most pressing issues shaping the business landscape today. Specifically, each session runs for three hours and is facilitated by a discussion leader, combining in-depth case discussions with workshops or group exercises that allow participants to apply key insights to real-world scenarios.
JP Morgan Chase Case Study
This year, the program is focusing on three critical areas: Artificial Intelligence (AI), Sustainability, and Geopolitics. Consequently, these topics promise to provide not only strategic insights for organizations but also personal perspectives on how these trends may impact our lives and careers.
For instance, the first case study we explored was the Harvard Business School case, “JPMorgan Chase: Leadership in the Age of GenAI”, which highlights how JPMorgan Chase is strategically deploying generative AI (GenAI) across its enterprise. In particular, the case underscores several key elements of JPMC’s approach:
- Top-down leadership commitment driving a unified AI vision
- Secure and compliant adoption practices
- Integration of AI tools, such as the LLM Suite, into everyday work
- Cross-functional governance and risk management
- Focus on delivering business value while enabling workforce adaptation
Through these dimensions, the case demonstrates how a large, highly regulated financial institution can innovate responsibly with GenAI.
Moreover, one of the most striking takeaways came from Jamie Dimon, Chairman & CEO of JPMorgan Chase, who remarked:
“While we do not know the full effect or the precise rate at which AI will change our business—or how it will affect society at large—we are completely convinced the consequences will be extraordinary and possibly as transformational as some of the major technological inventions of the past several hundred years: Think the printing press, the steam engine, electricity, computing and the Internet, among others.”
Indeed, Dimon’s insight reminds us that while the precise trajectory of AI is uncertain, its transformative potential is undeniable—comparable to some of the greatest technological leaps in human history.
Interactive Exercises on AI and Leadership
Following the case discussion, we had our group exercise, divided into seven teams, each tasked with exploring questions and challenges related to AI, leadership, and organizational transformation. Specifically, the exercises included:
- Ranking three opportunities for elimination within our organization based on the article “Rid Your Organization of Obstacles that Infuriate Everyone”.
- Assessing John Clements’ digital maturity using the article “Democratizing Transformation” and proposing three strategies to advance digital transformation.
- Sharing the top three most useful AI applications on a personal level and discussing how these applications could enhance organizational practices.
- Debating whether AI makes children intellectually lazy by taking over cognitive tasks.
- Reflecting on leadership effectiveness through the lens of “Primal Leadership”, with teams presenting key discussion points.
- Applying lessons from the JPMorgan Chase GenAI case to John Clements, exploring actionable strategies for our organization.
As a result, the session was not only informative but highly interactive, allowing participants to reflect on both personal and organizational implications of AI, digital transformation, and leadership.
