Last October 9, I had the opportunity to attend the UP College of Business Administration Alumni Association (UPCBAAA) General Membership Meeting held at the Brittany Hotel. The theme, “AI in Business: Shaping the Present, Defining the Future”, was more than a timely headline. In fact, it was a deep dive into how AI in business is transforming industries, redefining leadership, and reshaping the future of work.
As a representative of John Clements Consultants Inc., I was there to demonstrate Q for Recruiting, our AI-powered recruiter agent developed in partnership with Uniphore. Q is part of our growing suite of tech solutions designed to help clients navigate talent acquisition with speed, precision, and empathy. Presenting it live to a room of business leaders was both exciting and affirming. Clearly, it proved that AI in business is no longer theoretical. Instead, it’s operational, and it’s personal.
Setting the Stage: A Forum of Visionaries
To begin, the session was expertly moderated by Michael Guarin, CPA, CMA, Head of Advisory at R.G. Manabat & Co. His framing of the discussion was clear and grounded: AI is not just a tool—it’s a strategic imperative.
Moreover, the panel featured three distinguished speakers:
- Maria Carolina V. Dominguez, President & CEO of John Clements Consultants Inc.
- Christopher Quimbo, President & GM of Novellino Wines
- James Mabbott, Partner in Charge, KPMG Futures Australia
Each brought a unique lens to the conversation. As a result, they offered insights that were both visionary and actionable.

Cybersecurity and Strategic AI: Insights from JCCI
Ms. Dominguez opened with a powerful reminder: as we embrace AI, we must also prioritize cybersecurity. In an AI-driven world, data is both an asset and a vulnerability. Therefore, she emphasized the need for organizations to build trust by securing systems, protecting personal information, and aligning AI adoption with ethical standards.
Additionally, she spoke about strategic advantage—how companies can harness AI not just for efficiency, but for transformation. At JCCI, this means integrating AI into recruitment, learning, and leadership development. Ultimately, it’s about using technology to amplify human potential, not replace it.
Centralized Data and Smarter Decisions: A Business Case from Novellino Wines
Meanwhile, Mr. Christopher Quimbo brought the conversation down to earth with a practical insight: centralized data is essential for enabling smarter AI processing. In his experience, fragmented systems lead to fragmented decisions. Consequently, by consolidating data across departments, Novellino Wines has been able to sharpen forecasting, streamline operations, and respond to market shifts with agility.
His message was clear: AI in business works best when it’s built on clean, connected, and accessible data.
Agentic AI and the Future of Work: A Vision from KPMG Futures
Mr. James Mabbott’s presentation was a highlight. He introduced the concept of agentic AI—systems that can perceive, reason, and act. These agents aren’t just reactive; rather, they’re proactive. They gather data, analyze it, and execute tasks, freeing humans to focus on creativity, strategy, and relationships.
He outlined three levels of AI agents:
- Co-Pilot Agents: Assist with tasks like writing, scheduling, and documentation.
- Autonomous Agents: Execute workflows independently.
- Multi-Agent Systems: Collaborate like digital teams, each with a specialized role.
Furthermore, James shared KPMG’s own AI journey—from launching KymChat in 2023 to rolling out multi-agent workbenches in 2025. Their approach was holistic: train employees, align strategy, and scale responsibly.
JCCI’s Tech Showcase: AI in Action
During the event, our team at JCCI showcased three core technology solutions:
1. Q for Recruiting (Uniphore)
This AI-powered recruiter agent joins interviews, performs sentiment analysis, and provides technical, behavioral, and icebreaker questions. It transcribes conversations, evaluates skills, and delivers structured candidate insights—helping recruiters make faster, more informed decisions.
2. Sniper AI (Recruitment SMART)
Sniper AI enhances sourcing and screening through smart automation. It generates job descriptions, crawls online portals for CVs, ranks candidates, and offers talent analytics. It also supports equitable hiring by reducing bias in the screening process.
3. CK Connect (CrossKnowledge)
CK Connect is our personalized learning platform. It starts with a personality assessment and delivers tailored soft-skills modules. Managers gain team insights, and learners engage through neuroscience-backed microlearning. It’s designed to build people skills that drive performance and retention.
Together, these tools reflect our commitment to using AI not just for automation, but for human-centered transformation.

What I Learned and Why It Matters
1. AI Is Already Here—and It’s Accelerating
The time between invention and adoption is shrinking. Technologies that once took years to integrate are now embedded in workflows within months. As a result, businesses that wait risk falling behind.
2. AI Is Industry-Agnostic
From healthcare and finance to marketing and manufacturing, AI is driving efficiency, creativity, and strategic advantage. In other words, it’s not limited to tech firms—it’s reshaping every sector.
3. Human Insight Still Matters
While AI offers powerful tools, human judgment remains essential. We must interpret data responsibly, ask the right questions, and ensure that technology serves people—not the other way around.
4. Collaboration Is the Future
The most successful teams will be those that embrace human + AI collaboration. Let AI handle the routine. Meanwhile, let humans lead with empathy, innovation, and purpose.
5. A Night of Meaningful Dialogue
Attending the UPCBAAA Business Forum was more than a professional engagement—it was a moment of clarity. Hearing from leaders like Ms. Dominguez, Mr. Quimbo, and Mr. Mabbott reaffirmed that AI in business is not just a trend—it’s a transformation.
At John Clements Consultants Inc., we’re proud to be part of this shift. Through platforms like Q for Recruiting, Sniper AI, and CK Connect, we’re helping clients navigate change with confidence, clarity, and care.
