Charting the Future of Talent Acquisition: AI in Recruitment Takes Center Stage

July 21, 2025 | Admiral Hotel, Roxas Boulevard, Manila – In a dynamic fireside chat at the HR Pivoteers: Flip the Script… Lead the Shift conference, thought leaders Vikas Singh, Co-Founder & Chief Business Officer of Recruitment Smart, and Sathish Vijayakumar, APAC Head of Partnership Alliances of Uniphore, explored the transformative power of artificial intelligence (AI) in recruitment and talent acquisition. The session was masterfully facilitated by Tully Moss of John Clements Consultants.

Reimagining Sourcing with AI

The conversation kicked off with a critical examination of how AI has upended traditional sourcing models. Vikas Singh emphasized that AI-powered sourcing allows recruiters to move beyond static resumes and limited keyword searches. Instead, machine learning algorithms now evaluate millions of profiles in real-time, identifying best-fit candidates based not only on skills but on contextual data such as online behavior, career trajectory, and cultural alignment. “It’s not just about faster hiring—it’s about smarter hiring,” Singh explained.

Enhancing Candidate Engagement

Sathish Vijayakumar echoed this sentiment, noting that conversational AI—Uniphore’s core expertise—has redefined candidate engagement. “By using AI to drive meaningful pre-screening conversations, we ensure every candidate has a personalized experience. This improves both efficiency and the employer brand,” he said.

Addressing AI Hallucinations

On the topic of AI hallucinations—instances where AI generates incorrect or misleading information—both panelists were candid. Singh cautioned that hallucinations can occur when agentic AI is deployed without proper data boundaries or human oversight. He stressed the importance of “explainable AI” frameworks and rigorous validation to minimize these risks. Vijayakumar added that AI should be used as a co-pilot rather than an autopilot, emphasizing the need for continuous calibration with real recruiter feedback.

Creating a Differentiated Candidate Experience

A recurring theme in the session was the transformative potential of AI in creating a positive and differentiated candidate experience. AI’s ability to deliver consistent and timely communication, intelligent nudging, and dynamic FAQs means that candidates feel valued at every stage of the process. “This builds trust and enhances your brand as an employer of choice,” Vijayakumar said.

Predictive Decision-Making with AI

When asked whether AI can truly enable predictive, data-driven decision-making in HR, Singh affirmed that the technology is ready—but the challenge lies in companies’ data maturity. “You need clean, structured, and ethically sourced data. Sophistication doesn’t require size—it requires clarity and integration,” he noted. Vijayakumar reinforced that even small and mid-sized enterprises can benefit by leveraging SaaS-based AI tools that aggregate external and internal data without massive infrastructure investments.

Safeguarding Data Privacy

The issue of data security and privacy also took center stage. Both panelists underscored that enterprise-grade AI platforms must maintain strict data segmentation. “Your company’s recruitment data does not feed into a public AI pool,” Singh clarified. Instead, organizations must work with vendors who comply with international data protection standards like GDPR and ISO 27001.

Balancing Technology with Humanity

Finally, the fear of losing the “human touch” in AI-led recruitment was addressed. “AI doesn’t replace the human—it augments them,” said Vijayakumar. “Let machines handle the repetitive; let people handle the relational.” Singh concluded by reminding the audience that AI should elevate the recruiter’s role, enabling them to focus on empathy, judgment, and culture fit—things that no machine can replicate.

The Takeaway: AI Is Now

The session offered a clear message: AI is not the future—it is the present. But its success lies in thoughtful integration, ethical governance, and a balanced partnership between technology and humanity.
