Who knew a Wednesday night could be this smooth?
On July 2, members and friends from the Harvard Business School Club of the Philippines and Kellogg gathered at the Diageo Office in BGC for an unforgettable Scotch Night. It was a perfect blend of premium whisky, great company, and a bit of nerdy fun (hello, trivia!).
A Night of Spirited Xchange
The evening centered around the Diageo Special Releases 2024, a bold and creative collection under the theme “Spirited Xchange.” Each bottle in the lineup offered something unique—and yes, they were as good as they sound.
The Whiskies We Tasted
We got to try:
- The Singleton of Glendullan – finished in Chardonnay de Bourgogne French oak casks; smooth, fruity, and a crowd favorite.
- Roseisle 12 Year Old – the first-ever public release from Diageo’s newest malt distillery. A milestone!
- Lagavulin 12 Year Old – smoky, peaty, and powerful—everything you want from a Lagavulin.
- Talisker 11 Year Old – finished in wine casks with a spicy twist. Complex and coastal, just like Talisker should be.
Conversations and Tasting Notes
With tasting notes flying and conversations flowing, the night felt both relaxed and rich in stories—about the whiskies and everything else in between.
A Bit of Brain Flexing
Of course, no event is complete without a little brain flexing. We had a quick Scotch trivia game. While some came for the whisky, others stayed for the glory. Five sharp minds were crowned winners, and I’m proud to report that I landed a solid third place (not bad, right?).
More Than Just Whisky
Scotch Night wasn’t just about what was in our glasses. It was about reconnecting, discovering something new, and sharing a laugh or two along the way. Huge thanks to Diageo for welcoming us into their beautiful office and for giving us a peek (and a sip!) into some of the finest expressions of the year.
