Teeing Off Together: The 2nd JCCI-EDI Inter-Division Golf Tournament

The sport of golf is now part of the DNA of John Clements Consultants. More than ten years ago, John Clements Consultants’ President and CEO, Carol Dominguez, personally encouraged and promoted the sport, leading to a steadily growing passion for and interest in golf among the company’s employees. It is no surprise that to continue promoting this sport for health and well-being, golf clinics are being organized to welcome new and aspiring golfers into the already sizable group of internal golf experts.

Golf: A Simple Definition

In golf, a player uses a club to hit a ball into a hole. Using special clubs, the player—called a golfer—attempts to sink a ball with as few strokes as possible into each of the 9 or 18 successive holes on a course. The main objective of golf is to take the fewest number of strokes to sink, or putt, the ball into the hole. Generally, players compete in golf matches across four rounds of 18 holes each.

Preparing for the JCCI-EDI Inter-Division Golf Tournament

To prepare for the company’s golf tournament, we held golf clinics on Saturdays at the Manila Golf Club. During these sessions with premier golf coach Dan Sais, aspiring golfers learned the basics and techniques of hitting the ball on the driving range. The golf clinics primarily aim to develop strength, discipline, and the mindset of a professional golfer. We can also apply these same values in the workplace.

The very first JCCI-EDI Golf Tournament took place in December 2016, almost eight years ago. At that time, the divisions of John Clements Consultants—Team JCLI-Executive Search, Team EDI-Staffbuilders, Team Staffbuilders Asia, Team Professional Staffers, and Team Services—competed in the tournament.

The Second Time Around

Last October 12, 2024, after eight long years, we held our 2nd JCCI-EDI Inter-Division Golf Tournament at the Philippine Army Golf Course in Bonifacio Global City. This time, the friendly but competitive event featured novice golfers, those returning to the sport, random participants, and seasoned experts. The tournament was a mix of adventure, a health check, and a fashion show. Four teams represented the company’s new divisions: Enterprise Sales, Outsourcing, Service Delivery Hub, and Services-EDI Staffbuilders. They teed off at 1:00 PM to complete the 9-hole course within two hours.

Congratulations to all the JCCI-EDI Golfers!

The day concluded with a hearty late lunch, which provided us with an opportunity to share stories and discuss our experiences on the course. Laughter and friendly banter filled the air as we recounted our favorite moments, from unexpected shots to friendly rivalries. It was a Saturday well spent, and we are eager for the next tournament and the chance to continue building our golfing community.
