JCCI – EDI Oktoberfest 2024: A Celebration of Culture and Connection

On October 11, 2024, the much-anticipated Oktoberfest 2024 returned to the John Clements hub, attracting over 130 attendees. After a break caused by the pandemic in 2020, this marks the second year the organization has brought back the popular event, first launched in 2010. The early versions of this celebration featured a battle of the bands, where different divisions of the company competed in a lively musical contest.

The comeback of Oktoberfest at John Clements has grown since then. Last year’s event included internal employees and outsourced staff working with various clients, with an extra day dedicated just to clients. Overflowing with food, beer, and activities, the event also featured the sounds of an accordion, bringing a real touch of German culture to the celebration.

A Celebration of Culture at Oktoberfest 2024

This year’s Oktoberfest 2024 exceeded expectations, with even more attendees than last year. Internal and outsourced employees gathered at the John Clements hub to celebrate with food, beer, and, of course, games — but with a clear Filipino twist. The blend of Filipino and German traditions gave the event its own special touch. The games encouraged friendly competition and built camaraderie among employees, making the event more than just a party.

A Rich History of Oktoberfest

Oktoberfest is one of the world’s most famous festivals, starting in Munich, Germany, in 1810. The original event was a big public celebration to mark the wedding of Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen. Over time, Oktoberfest became an annual beer and food festival, drawing millions of visitors from around the world.

The festival has since spread beyond Germany, with many countries adopting the tradition. The Philippines is no exception, as Oktoberfest has found new life here, with Filipinos adding their unique touch. The blend of German tradition and Filipino hospitality creates a memorable experience for everyone who attends.

John Clements and Its Growing Oktoberfest Tradition

The JCCI-EDI Oktoberfest 2024 has become more than just a social event for John Clements employees and their clients. It offers a chance for people from different departments and teams to connect in a relaxed and fun environment. The event builds a sense of unity within the company, helping to break down barriers between colleagues who may not usually interact.

For outsourced employees, it’s a great opportunity to reconnect with colleagues from the John Clements office. It’s not uncommon for outsourced staff to feel a bit disconnected from the company’s daily activities, but events like Oktoberfest 2024 help bridge that gap.

This year’s celebration was not just about food and fun, but also about recognizing the strength of the company’s community. Employees had the chance to mingle, bond, and share stories, building stronger relationships. The event was planned to help everyone relax and have a great time — and it definitely succeeded.

Food, Beer, and Games: The Ingredients of a Great Oktoberfest

One of the most exciting parts of Oktoberfest is, of course, the food and beer. This year, guests enjoyed a wide variety of dishes, including pizza, hummus, potato salad, and Filipino party favorites like lumpia. The mix of different foods made sure there was something for everyone to enjoy. And, of course, the beer flowed freely throughout the night, keeping with the Oktoberfest tradition.

But it wasn’t just about the food and drinks. The games added even more fun to the event, giving employees a chance to relax and enjoy some friendly competition. Whether it was traditional party games or more modern activities, everyone had the chance to take part and have fun. The games weren’t just for entertainment — they also encouraged teamwork and brought colleagues together.

The Night Ends with Karaoke

No Filipino celebration would be complete without a bit of karaoke, and this year’s Oktoberfest was no exception. After a night of eating, drinking, and playing games, employees gathered for an impromptu karaoke session. Laughter filled the air as colleagues took turns belting out their favorite songs, sometimes on key and sometimes not. But in true Filipino fashion, it didn’t matter. The point was to have fun, and that’s exactly what everyone did.

As the night wound down, it was clear that the JCCI-EDI Oktoberfest 2024 had succeeded in its mission: to bring people together, celebrate shared traditions, and create memories that would last long after the event ended.
