CrossKnowledge’s Xianxi Ning Shares People Strategies in Manila Visit

If you have participated in a program with the John Clements Leadership Institute (JCLI), you would have accessed your course materials through our learning platform, CrossKnowledge (CK), part of the Wiley group and a global leader in publication, education, and research. JCLI has been in partnership with CK since 2020, with all interactions being virtual until our President and CEO visited the CK office in Paris recently. During that visit, she extended an invitation to the CK team to visit Manila and engage with our clients.

Accepting this invitation, Xianxi Ning, CrossKnowledge’s APAC Development Director, arrived in Manila in April. He has an extensive background in people development, having worked on organizational challenges with global companies, such as L’Oreal, Schneider Electric, BlackRock, and Snowflake. Since this was Xianxi’s first visit to Manila, the JCLI team was eager to introduce him to Filipino hospitality and facilitate introductions to as many clients as possible. His first engagement was a Monday sales meeting with John Clements, where he discussed CK’s learning solutions and how they cater to diverse corporate needs.

On Tuesday, a breakfast forum at Manila Golf Club was organized to formally introduce Xianxi and CrossKnowledge to our clients. The session centered on developing talent in the age of artificial intelligence. Xianxi highlighted a pervasive skills gap at various organizational levels, from individual contributors to the C-suite. He pointed out that traditional corporate people strategies might not be effective in addressing this gap, leading to disengagement and productivity challenges. He then addressed the dual challenges posed by AI: identifying necessary skills and developing people accordingly. Xianxi shared use cases demonstrating how CK’s tailored solutions address these issues and introduced three new programs aimed at upskilling for the AI environment that would be available within the year.

Throughout the week, Xianxi met with clients from various industries, identifying common challenges such as culture change, increasing sales capabilities, leadership development, and technology adoption. By getting to know the many issues our clients are currently experiencing, Xianxi hoped to return to Paris to draw up possible solutions to help address these concerns and present them in succeeding meetings. His week concluded with a meeting at the Admiral Hotel, where he experienced the famed Manila Bay sunset.

On his departure day, Xianxi joined the monthly Sales and Production conference with John Clements and EDI employees, where the group celebrated Earth Day 2024. He expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and hospitality he received and shared his enthusiasm for future visits, a sentiment warmly reciprocated by all attendees.

Xianxi’s visit marked a significant step in strengthening the partnership between John Clements and CrossKnowledge. The insights and connections made during his time in Manila are expected to drive innovative solutions and enhance client engagement. We look forward to the continued collaboration and the positive impact it will bring to our clients and their organizations.
