John Clements Consultants started the month strong with its annual golf tournament on November 4, 2022. This marked a spectacular half-a-decade milestone for the one-day, invitation-only event. The players’ demographics included ambassadors, presidents, CEOs, country heads, vice presidents, CFOs, directors, executives, and general managers from different industries, who met at Manila Golf and Country Club to catch up, exchange stories, and of course, swing some clubs.
After weeks of planning, the John Clements team had been working from the crack of dawn to make Manila Golf’s already welcoming function room even more exquisite and pleasing to the eye. When golfers and their guests entered its doors, they were greeted with tables and furnishings in the style of a European al fresco picnic arrangement. This setup allowed for an open-air feel indoors, which was complemented by potted plants that outlined the room.
The registration team started taking in participants at 6:00 AM, before directing them to a sumptuous breakfast and cups of refreshing coffee. By 7:30 AM, when it was time to take a commemorative group photo, the golfers had been enjoying contented yet jovial conversations. They then departed to the starting hole in groups, eager to show their skills in this round of golf.
The Ceremonial Tee-Off took place at 7:50 AM, with John Clements’ very own President and CEO Ms. Carol Dominguez, and the rest of the Platinum sponsors lining up at the 1st tee and launching their balls. The first flight teed off soon after, with each subsequent flight teeing off at 8-minute intervals. The weather that morning was most cooperative, especially compared to how stormy the past month had been. And while some flights couldn’t finish 18 holes, all of them enjoyed their time on the course until it was time for lunch.
The afternoon’s reception trailed off into the evening with games, raffles, giveaways, and the awarding of tournament winners.
The Fun Hole winners were:
- Hatayo Yazaki for the Longest Drive at 277 Yards
- Satoshi Matsuo for the Most Accurate Drive at 4 inches at Hole 10
- Takeru Okamoto for Nearest to the Pin at Hole 14
The official winner’s circle of this year’s tournament was composed of entirely new faces, in contrast with the returning veterans who occupied it the previous year. Women’s Division winners included Loli Sy as champion and Hiromi Shimoda as the runner-up. Class C Division’s top brass had equally matched at Net 82 Gil Genio as the champion and Nilo Tam as the runner-up. Class B had IBPAP’s Jack Madrid as champion and “Modern-Day ZOOperman” Robert Yupangco as runner-up. Finally, almost neck-and-neck statistically at Net 65 and Net 67 respectively, were Manish Sharma and Anthony San Diego as Class A’s champion and runner-up.
John Clements received some warm, glowing messages from attendees, who expressed satisfaction with the tournament:
“Thank you for inviting us to the 5th John Clements CEO Golf Classic and congratulations on this successful event. Despite the heavy rain in the afternoon, we really enjoyed the tournament.”
“It was a wonderful experience meeting with a lot of old friends, as well as making new ones. More power to John Clements.”
More power, indeed. John Clements hopes to see these golfers and even more fresh faces in next year’s 6th CEO Golf Classic!
This year’s event wouldn’t have been possible without the help of these generous sponsors!
